The most recent round of iPhone 8 leaks suggest Apple has a very specific idea of what the perfect iPhone should look like: a high-tech sheet of glass.

The minimalist, yet extremely advanced, communication devices from hackneyed futuristic films seem to have inspired the iPhone maker.

The recent round of leaks from Fast Company and Mac Otakara certainly suggest as much. Specifically, the rumour that Apple that will remove all physical buttons from the iPhone 8, which is a fairly big statement of intent to me.

Then there’s the insistence that the iPhone be one of the slimmest handsets on the market – even to the detriment of battery size (the iPhone 6S) and design (the protruding camera).

When you also factor in 3D touch (adding more input without physical buttons), removing the home button, minimising the bezels, replacing the aluminum rear panel with glass and removal of physical connections it seems fairly clear that Apple is rushing towards a very specific vision of what the perfect iPhone should look like.

With all buttons removed, the metal frame replaced by glass and bezels slimmed down to milimeters – Apple would be pretty close to a Westworld-style smartphone in the iPhone 8.
