Kerber named as UNICEF ambassador – WTA Tennis

World No.1 Angelique Kerber has been named as a UNICEF ambassador, the charity announced today.

The 29-year-old will be playing at Wimbledon in support of famine-stricken children in Africa and Yemen. “There are too many children in the world who are not doing well, who have to flee from war, don’t have enough food or cannot go to school. That’s why I’m supporting UNICEF,” Kerber said. “It feels great when I can make a small contribution for these children with my game. This is another motivation for me.”
