Calling all superheroes to save our planet – UNICEF Connect (blog)
Let’s prove to the world that young people are key to combatting climate change.
Join us for our global Climate Comic Contest! – inspiring children and youth to take climate action through creativity!
BOOM! From today until 22 October UNICEF is asking young people up to 25 years old to come up with their own superhero whose mission is to combat climate change. Everyone that participates will have the chance to collaborate with a professional team to develop and publish their own comic (which will be shared worldwide!).
POW! The top superheros will be announced on 6 November where they will be featured on the Climate Comic Contest website for a global vote. From 6-17 November, everyone worldwide has the opportunity to pick their favourite climate comic hero! The winning superhero will be announced by late November.
WOW! The winner will work with a comic artist and writer to publish a climate action themed comic that will be launched on Earth Day (April 22). The comic will be disseminated worldwide with the possibility to be displayed for decision makers at major global events including UNGA and COP24!
Join forces with us.
• Organize a climate comic hero workshop (18 September-22 October) with children and youth to learn more about climate change and to submit their superhero ideas to the global climate hero contest. Please see workshop pack (available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish) here.
• Promote the contest on social media (5-22 October; 6-17 November; 22 April). Check out the social media toolkit (available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish) here.
By engaging young people we will have a fighting chance to save our world from climate change.
