Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game gets two new ships from The Last Jedi – Polygon

Fantasy Flight’s Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game is getting two new expansions and both will feature ships, characters and encounters inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

X-Wing Miniatures is a tabletop skirmish game where players dogfight with iconic ships from the Star Wars universe. First released in 2012, it’s known for having a robust, global tournament scene.

The first expansion announced this week is Kylo Ren’s personal starfighter, the TIE Silencer, which was revealed to fans for the first time in July. The ship comes with a Kylo Ren pilot card that allows you to fly the First Order’s most powerful warrior into combat. His special powers include I’ll Show You The Dark Side, which allows him to search through the damage deck for a card that specifically affects the enemy pilot. That expansion will retail for $29.95.

Next is the Resistance B/SF-17 heavy bomber, which made an appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s first teaser trailer. Fantasy Flight gives us a bit more detail on this ship, saying that it’s protected by rotating turrets and fights in formation with other, similar ships. It’s a larger model, and has a ton of hit points — three shields and nine hull. No named pilots are shown in the marketing materials other than the members of Crimson Squadron. The expansion will retail for $39.95.

This is Fantasy Flight’s 13th wave of expansions for X-Wing Miniatures. Other than the masterfully painted minis, what makes these products unique is that they function a little bit like downloadable content in the video game world. Each one includes not only the ships and the cards to play them, but a pre-made scenario based on Star Wars lore. No details were given about what kinds of scenarios will come in the box.

Both expansions will be available in early 2018. Pre-orders are open now.
