In case you somehow haven’t heard, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is coming out this December, and now you can buy tickets for the Rian Johnson-directed sequel the 2015’s The Force Awakens.
Just like by The Force Awakens, tickets were supposed to go live after the premiere of a new trailer, but it seems that plans have once again changed, with tickets available so far at AMC, Regal Cinemas, Cinemark, and the Alamo Drafthouse, along with general ticketing sites like Fandango, Movietickets.com, and Atom Tickets. That’s in additional to Showcase, which accidentally put tickets live earlier in the afternoon.
Tickets are going fast, so if you’re planning on seeing the next installment of the Skywalker saga on opening night, you might want to move quickly.
The Last Jedi will also be shown in 70mm IMAX at select theaters, a list of which can be found over at IMAX’s website, as well as in regular IMAX, IMAX 3D, Dolby Cinema, and good old fashioned 2D.
If you’re in the UK, ticket sales are expected to go on sale tomorrow morning at 7am local time, according to the official Star Wars UK Twitter account. That said, as proven tonight, theaters may put tickets up earlier, so keep an eye out.
Most screenings will start at 7pm EST on December 14th, technically a day before the official release date. But Lucasfilm will be offering three (pricey) options to see The Last Jedi an hour earlier, at one of three different events:
- An “Opening Night Fan Event”, which costs around $25-$30 a ticket, depending on your theater
- A back-to-back double feature of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi double feature (around $40 a ticket)
- A Star Wars marathon, consisting of all eight movies (Rogue One didn’t make the cut, apparently), for around $100 a ticket
Each of the fan events comes with some extra swag, like trading cards and concession stand popcorn, but you’ll want to check your individual theaters to see exactly what’s on offer.
Additionally, various theaters will be offering some extras with screenings of The Last Jedi. From December 17th through January 7th, IMAX at AMC will be giving away free posters, while IMAX at Regal will be offering the first 500 customers collectable tickets on Saturday showings during December. Fandango will be bundling a free Star Wars: The Last Jedi poster with tickets as well, while the Alamo Drafthouse will be offering three Mondo pint glasses and a commemorative all-Star Wars issue of Birth.Movies.Death as optional add ons for its showings.
