The ‘Star Wars’ movie franchise has parted ways with another director.
USA TODAY

USA TODAY already nominated a few directors to take over the helm of Star Wars Episode IX in the wake of Colin Trevorrow’s departure, but Late Show host Stephen Colbert has some suggestions of his own.

Quentin Tarantino

“If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that the Star Wars movies were missing, it’s ’70s music and extended conversations about cheeseburgers,” Colbert noted. “Get ready for Star Wars Episode IX: Everybody Shoots First.”

Nancy Meyers

“Tarantino can be a little polarizing,” Colbert admitted, “but everybody loves romantic comedies. How about  Star Wars Episode IX: What Wookiees Want? Because sometimes, the droids you were looking for were right in front of you all along.”

Werner Herzog

Colbert even made a trailer for this one, in case you thought Star Wars is lacking in German existentialism. It’s at the end of the clip. We’d tell you to enjoy it, but it will probably just make you question everything instead.
