Solo: all the latest news for the next standalone Star Wars movie – The Verge

Rogue One demonstrated that audiences will turn out to theaters to watch a Star Wars movie that’s not about the Skywalker family, and the next standalone film will show off the early days of a young Han Solo.

Solo will star Alden Ehrenreich in the titular role, while Donald Glover will play his scoundrel friend, Lando Calrissian. Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Joonas Suotamo have also joined the cast as supporting characters. The film was originally helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, but they were fired midway through production and replaced with Ron Howard.
