Swearing man grabs at children walking to school on Northwest Side: Cops – Chicago Tribune
A man yelling profanities grabbed at middle-school-age children walking to school Wednesday morning in the Logan Square neighborhood, police said.
The man attacked children on their way to school about 7:55 a.m. in the 2900 block of North Spaulding Avenue and the 3200 block of West Diversey Parkway about 7:50 a.m., according to a police alert.
In both incidents, a man went up to children who were walking to school and grabbed or tried to grab their arms while yelling profanities, according to the alert. The children then ran to school, on the 3200 block of West George Street, and told officials there.
Avondale-Logandale Elementary School is located at 3212 W. George St.
In the attack on Spaulding, an 11-year-old boy was walking to school when the man went up to him, grabbed his arm and yelled profanities, according to police. The man let go of the boy, who ran to school.
In the attack on Diversey, a 12-year-old girl was walking with other children when the man went up her while yelling profanities and tried to grab her arm.
The attacker was described as a Hispanic man in his 50s, with some sort of physical impairment of his lip and right eye. He was wearing a black, hooded puffy jacket and black jeans.
